BEST PLACE TO STAY IN TENERIFE

The area in which I recommend staying in Tenerife is 👉 Los Cristianos.
The youngest, liveliest is Playa de Las Americas in the Las Veronicas area.

Playa de las Americas

Playa de Las Americas is the most popular destination in the south of Tenerife, very touristy near the most popular beaches like LAS VISTAS and PLAYA TROYA

Playa del las Americas is the centre of the Tenerife nightlife with lots of pubs and discos.

Playa de las Americas is recommended for:
  • Young people,
  • Single looking for new friends,
  • Who are looking for entertainment and nightlife,
  • Who wants to stay in the most popular area.

Los Cristianos

Do you plan to go to Tenerife in January, February, March or April? Or looking for the best place to stay in Tenerife with families and children?

Los Cristianos is recommended for those who spend a holiday in Tenerife in winter because it is the hottest and sunniest area of Tenerife.
Los Cristianos is located adjacent to Las Americas and is the area with the best climate on the island. It is also full of shops and has a beautiful seaside promenade.
The hotels and residences are quieter. There are a lot of rental apartments in this area.

Choose an accommodation in Los Cristianos if:

- you travel with family and children.
- You want to stay in a tourist area.
- Looking for quiet nights just steps from the beach and the center.
- Looking for proximity to Playa de las Americas but without the risk of sleeping in a noisy place.

👉 Cheapest accommodation in Los Cristianos

Costa Adeje

El Duque beach, like most of Tenerife's most popular and popular beaches, is located in the south of the island. This beach is surrounded by luxury hotels and elite restaurants. The area is more exclusive than Las Americas.

where to stay in tenerife
El Duque beach
There are usually more pensioners, wealthy people or anyone looking for a certain level of accommodation. The most prestigious hotels are located in Adeje.

Adeje is quieter then Playa de las Americas. It is indicated for families and retired people.

Puerto de la Cruz

Las Teresitas is the beach of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: a beautiful long beach of golden sand of about 1.5 km. Located in San Andrés, the area is frequented by residents and is rather windy.

The waves have been reduced thanks to the breakwaters it remains in fact a beach to be favored for summer stays and definitely less suitable for winter stays since the North of Tenerife is quite rainy and windy.

tenerife best area
Lago Martianez
Lake Martianez, in Puerto de la Cruz, is a huge pool. It is composed by different swimming pools with salt water, volcanic rocks and palm trees overlooking the ocean. They are not heated, so I suggest you to take a bath only in the summer time.

Tenerife has a wide range of activities, so it is suitable for different tastes and needs.

- BEST AREA TO STAY IN LANZAROTE

Where is the best area to stay in Lanzarote? Best area to sleep, what to see, where to go, what are the most beautiful beaches, best resort in lanzarote for couples, for families, for nightlife...

Lanzarote where it is best
Best Lanzarote area
Stop here, you're in the right place. I will help you to choose the best area in Lanzarote according to your personal needs.

I often visit the Spanish islands (especially Gran Canaria where I have my holiday apartment) so I can help to planning a nice holiday in Canary islands.

Lanzarote is an island to discover and explore by car, bike or walking. The contact with nature is strong and is the ideal destination for those who want to disconnect from the city and live in the open-air. Good for recharge your batteries, see beautiful landscapes, sunbathing...

We talk about:

  1. Which part of Lanzarote is the best for... ?
  2. Where to stay in Lanzarote: recommended hotels, apartments, resort.
  3. Lanzarote Best beaches.

Lanzarote for young people/nightlife:  Puerto del Carmen or Arrecife.
Best area to visit Lanzarote up and down:  Puerto del Carmen.
Or Costa Teguise (to visit the norther area) and Playa Blanca (to visit the southern area)

⇨ Best choice to stay in Puerto del Carmen: Apartments facing Playa Grande .
⇨ The best choice to stay in Costa Teguise:  Apartments near the beach.
  1. Lanzarote for families with children. Playa Blanca.
  2. Lanzarote for those looking for the sea and the sun. Playa Blanca.
⇨ Best choice for sunbathing and beach life:  Apartments in the center of Playa Blanca.

Which part of Lanzarote is the best?

Que es la mejor zona de Lanzarote?

The island's most famous tourist cities:

  • Puerto del Carmen  in mid-island facing eastward.
  • The capital Arrecife.
  • Costa Teguise  in the north of the airport.
  • Playa Blanca:  South.
These locations are the primary choice of tourists coming to Lanzarote.
Now let's see in detail what is the best
area to stay in Lanzarote for you tastes.

BEST AREA TO STAY IN LANZAROTE for you...

Is it Puerto del Carmen?

Puerto del Carmen liken it to Playa del Ingles, Gran Canaria, because it is the "old tourist" and known area.
I went in February to Lanzarote and I stayed 3 nights in Puerto del Carmen.

PRO
  • Prices of apartments for rental holidays are competitive,
  • A long walk along the coast.
  • Wide beach.
  • A pretty old harbor area with many typical restaurants.
Choose to stay in Puerto del Carmen if you try:
  • Cheap Accommodation (South Island is more expensive)
  • You need a starting point to visit the island (the position halfway between the North and South is ideal for getting around without changing accommodation.)
  • Looking for nightlife: it is full of restaurants, pubs and shops. For "nightlife" I do not think to Ibiza style but something more soft . Although Lanzarote is not just the icon island of fun and nightlife, if you're young you should stay here.

BEST AREA TO STAY IN LANZAROTE for you...

Is it Costa Teguise?

If I went back to Lanza, I would stay here a couple of nights rather than in Puerto del Carmen as I did. The reasons are:
  • Much more comfortable for some sightseeing in the norther part of Lanzarote.
  • He gave me the feeling of being more chic than Puerto del Carmen.
Here I found many northern European retirees.
"Pueblo Marinero" is considered the center of social life in Costa Teguise full of Bars and restaurants. It is characteristic, however, as mentioned, if you're young people is best to stay in Puerto del Carmen.

    Stay in Costa Teguise why:

    1. It is a convenient location for visiting the North Island attractions.
    2. It is a tourist center that, although less of Puerto del Carmen, it has shops and restaurants.
There is also a beautiful beach in case you want to sunbathe but is a windy beach. In winter the water is freeze.
Playa de las cucharas, Lanzarote, costa teguise

BEST AREA TO STAY IN LANZAROTE for you...

    Is it Playa Blanca?

I stayed in Playa Blanca during my last days in Lanzarote holiday after visiting, up and down, the many attractions of the Norther area. I went to the south in search of relax, sunbathing and have a swim.

Unfortunately the weather was not good.

Usually, the Souther area is slightly warmer and less windy than the rest of the island but
, in my opinion, not enough to make sealife, at least in winter. For the winter season is better to go in Gran Canaria South West countries.

In Playa Blanca there are many families with children.

Choose the town of Playa Blanca if:

    • Are you looking for a relaxing holiday.
    • Want to visit Fuerteventura.
    • Looking for a place with tourist shops and restaurants.
    • Beach where you can swim.
    • Traveling with your family and children.
Where to stay in Playa Blanca?

BEST AREA TO STAY IN LANZAROTE for you...

    Is it Arrecife?

Like any capital, Arrecife town is NOT only for tourists but also to those who live and work there.
Arrecife is pretty connected to the bus station with a comfortable walk along the ocean and a park. The Reducto beach is wide, perfect for sunbathing

I visited Arrecife on several occasions always the weather was sunny but the last time I went, I was shocked: there was so much wind to create a tidal wave and the local police had to close the paseo (route overlooking the ocean) as the waves were high. A wind so strong to make it hard to breathe: I've never seen such a thing in my life.

Fortunately it was a sporadic episode. Arrecife is suitable for those on a budget: the prices here are lower than in the South. It is a good starting point to visit the north of the island and visit the museums of the city. The bus station connects all the major cities of Lanzarote.

    Summing
Best place to stay in Lanzarote:

    1. Lanzarote for teenagers
    Puerto del Carmen, Arrecife.

    2. Lanzarote for families
    Playa Blanca.

    3. Lanzarote Children
    Playa Blanca.

Lanzarote is NOT the hottest Canary island in the winter season. If you looking for a warmer area stay to Los Cristianos (Tenerife) or Puerto Rico / Mogan (Gran Canaria) the  hottest areas of the Canaries in winter.

As well as all big cities there is lot of traffic and it is difficult to find parking.
The historical centre is the district of "Vegueta" with the cathedral, characteristic small squares and the "house-museum of Columbus".
If you want to taste a local atmosphere, On Sunday morning (except in the summer) you can admire the typical street market of Vegueta with 400 stalls and every kind of products, while if you prefer the famous brand shops I suggest you to make a walk along the main street of "Calle Mayor"
Las Palmas has also a very long and beautiful sandy beach "Las Canteras" connected to the city centre by local buses.

These are only a small part of the principal attraction in Gran Canaria... other articles are coming soon...

    Gran Canaria shopping

    Things to in Gran Canaria

If during your holidays, you encounter one day with the bad weather, you can go to shopping.

Aguimes and shopping (program for shopping lovers).

Aguimes is a small typical village with several bronze statues (I have counted 37 statues), a beautiful cathedral and some bars where you can taste local food. Aguimes is famous for oil, wine, spirit and cheese products.

I suggest you to park around the village, because inside there are narrow streets without parking.
After the visit you can reach the south beaches or to make shopping in the zone of Telde (north of the airport) where there are several stores and an outlet.

    • LAS TERRAZZAS OUTLET: (motorway exit 6B). Here you can find famous brand of clothes, shoes, electronic, household, bar, restaurants... with a beautiful ocean view. The zone is windy.
    • EL MIRADOR STORE: (motorway exit 5). There is the big supermarket EROSKI and the low cost shop PRIMARK.
