  • Santa Cruz de Tenerife
  • Puerto de la Cruz

Best place to stay in Tenerife

Where to stay in Tenerife. Best places to stay in Tenerife. Best area to stay in tenerife: where to go, warmer beachesm, least windy place in Tenerife. Where is best place for nightlife? Where to stay with children?

Plana a Holidays in Gran Canaria in 3 step

☑️ Fly with the low-cost airline Ryanair to Tenerife South airport.

Cheapest accommodation Tenerife South

BEST PLACE TO STAY IN TENERIFE

The area in which I recommend staying in Tenerife is 👉 Los Cristianos.
The youngest, liveliest is Playa de Las Americas in the Las Veronicas area.

Playa de las Americas

Playa de Las Americas is the most popular destination in the south of Tenerife, very touristy near the most popular beaches like LAS VISTAS and PLAYA TROYA

Playa del las Americas is the centre of the Tenerife nightlife with lots of pubs and discos.

Playa de las Americas is recommended for:
  • Young people,
  • Single looking for new friends,
  • Who are looking for entertainment and nightlife,
  • Who wants to stay in the most popular area.
👉 Cheapest accommodation in Playa de las Americas

best place to stay in tenerife

Los Cristianos

Do you plan to go to Tenerife in January, February, March or April? Or looking for the best place to stay in Tenerife with families and children?

Los Cristianos is recommended for those who spend a holiday in Tenerife in winter because it is the hottest and sunniest area of Tenerife.
Los Cristianos is located adjacent to Las Americas and is the area with the best climate on the island. It is also full of shops and has a beautiful seaside promenade.
The hotels and residences are quieter. There are a lot of rental apartments in this area.

Choose an accommodation in Los Cristianos if:

- you travel with family and children.
- You want to stay in a tourist area.
- Looking for quiet nights just steps from the beach and the center.
- Looking for proximity to Playa de las Americas but without the risk of sleeping in a noisy place.

👉 Cheapest accommodation in Los Cristianos

Costa Adeje

El Duque beach, like most of Tenerife's most popular and popular beaches, is located in the south of the island. This beach is surrounded by luxury hotels and elite restaurants. The area is more exclusive than Las Americas.

where to stay in tenerife
El Duque beach
There are usually more pensioners, wealthy people or anyone looking for a certain level of accommodation. The most prestigious hotels are located in Adeje.

Adeje is quieter then Playa de las Americas. It is indicated for families and retired people.

👉 Cheapest accommodation in Costa Adeje

Puerto de la Cruz

Las Teresitas is the beach of Santa Cruz de Tenerife: a beautiful long beach of golden sand of about 1.5 km. Located in San Andrés, the area is frequented by residents and is rather windy.

The waves have been reduced thanks to the breakwaters it remains in fact a beach to be favored for summer stays and definitely less suitable for winter stays since the North of Tenerife is quite rainy and windy.

tenerife best area
Lago Martianez
Lake Martianez, in Puerto de la Cruz, is a huge pool. It is composed by different swimming pools with salt water, volcanic rocks and palm trees overlooking the ocean. They are not heated, so I suggest you to take a bath only in the summer time.

Tenerife has a wide range of activities, so it is suitable for different tastes and needs.
Enjoy in Tenerife!

Arrecife - capital city

This is an example of an itinerary in Lanzarote based on my personal experience. It includes TOP SIGHTS in the island.

The most important tourist attractions are situated in the north, so I suggest you to stay 3 nights in the North of the island: the principal touristic village is Costa Teguise.
While for the other 4 nights you can stay in the south, in Playa Blanca, for some days of relax, where the weather is warmer, sunniest and not so windy.

Read my blog dedicated to the Canary Islands

⭐Turn English subtitles on, to follow my video:

SEVEN DAYS IN LANZAROTE

1st day

LANZAROTE Top sights
Jardin de Cactus
You can start with a brief visit of Costa Teguise. It is a pleasant village on the coast with lots of shops, two equipped sandy beaches and a beautiful coastal path on the ocean. Unfortunately it is very windy and the sea is rough. It has a typical center called Pueblo Marinero that is a replica of a canary village with restaurants and pubs.
You can continue the trip with the visit to the Jardin de Cactus built from Manrique, as well as the most important attractions, it preserves several hundreds variety of cactus, a windmill and a pair of ponds. It is not big and pleasant to visit.
Moving away from the coast, Teguise City, a typical canary village with white houses, a church, a nice square, some shops of souvenir and the Aloe Museum where you can know the various properties of this typical canary plant and its products. Two or three km from the city, on a hill with a beautiful view point there is an ancient castle (now is a history museum).
Famara, situated on the opposite coast of Costa Teguise is a very long and sandy beach, frequented by surfers. I take a long walk there, it was very relaxing. It is not very windy, but in case you can take cover behind some ring of stones.

The last stop of the day, the Monumento al Campesino, is a white monument of 6 mt high, built from Manrique in honor of farmer walkers. Next to the monument there is a small free museum of ancient work tools.

Fataga is a typical rural village with canary style houses (white with grey stones), narrow streets, lots of flowers, a church, a small square a restaurant serving local specialties. I tasted it during a trip to Roque Nublo, it is cheap and the portions are large. In Fataga there is only one parking that costs 1 euro for all day long (close to the only restaurant).

When you arrive to Roque Nublo you are in the center of the island. There is a small free parking when the path starts. After 5 km. you will arrive to this particular rock of 70 meter.

The capital city of Gran Canaria is a lively city situated in the north, connected to the south with the motorway GC1 or by bus n. 01-30-90-91.

As well as all big cities there is lot of traffic and it is difficult to find parking.

Gran Canaria shopping

Things to in Gran Canaria

If during your holidays, you encounter one day with the bad weather, you can go to shopping.

Aguimes and shopping (program for shopping lovers).

Aguimes is a small typical village with several bronze statues (I have counted 37 statues), a beautiful cathedral and some bars where you can taste local food. Aguimes is famous for oil, wine, spirit and cheese products.

I suggest you to park around the village, because inside there are narrow streets without parking.
